Brunswick Georgia, my new home town, has been nominated to appear on the Deluxe TV show Small Business Revolution!
https://www.deluxe.com/small-business-revolution/main-street/season-five/
Our place in the running was announced late November and it has been a frenzy of excitement and “coming together” ever since.
The air is buzzing with excitement, anticipation and town pride.
The headlines in the local paper, the flyers in the windows of businesses, and every social media platform in between have residents and visitors sharing what #MyBrunswick means to them.
The order of conversation when interacting with anyone these days is “How are you? (your kids, your spouse, your grandmother, your dog….)” “How about this weather?” and “Have you voted, posted a picture, included your hashtag?”
It has been a special time and has made me feel even closer to and more vested in my new community.
I am not one who usually cares what others think but I have to say it feels really good that this place I have chosen to call home has been recognized as special by others as well.
Because it IS special.
The natural surroundings are stunning and soothing to a weary soul. The people are warm and welcoming. I credit this place with saving my life. Perhaps not my physical life; but the small hopeful part of me that was holding out for something more meaningful and magical and was slowly burning out, withering up and wasting away.
We will find out Tuesday if Brunswick moves on to the top five (fingers crossed.)
In the meantime I thought I would share a link to another blog http://thelensandpen.com/our-town-brunswick-georgia/?fbclid=IwAR0SlbLtKxsUB__0aK_hoou7TUzOxE1_ZgVWvsVCnYmKzjKeTGyZa4Cd3y4 by a writer/photographer who also sees something special in this town by the sea and some photos of #MyBrunswick so you can see what it means to me and others who have chosen to call this place home.
