Just a quick check in tonight to share this video that the the local radio team put together and submitted to the open call for HGTV’s Hometown Takeover Show.
They did an amazing job showing the two sides of our town. The parts that have been honored, maintained and restored and the parts that could use a little help.
My husband and I (mostly I) wrestled with this dichotomy when making our decision to move. I loved the good but was uneasy about the bad. We drove down one street and I was ready to sign papers and move in, a few blocks over I was ready to hit the gas and move on.
In life and love nothing is perfect. You have to be willing to believe the good outweighs the bad. You have to be willing to take a chance. You have to be willing to reason with your head and listen to your heart.
In the end it was the people that helped me decide.
It was the welcoming smiles and the instant sense of community that I felt that helped to put my indecision to rest.
The sense of pride, of hopefulness was infectious and I wanted nothing more than to be a part of it all. It is a sweet old town, hardened and crusty in places, but full of hope and optimism. It is a town that has survived its past and has its eye on a bright future.
I am honored to call Brunswick Georgia my chosen hometown.
