I have developed a new obsession.
Facebook Marketplace.
I am a big believer in recycling and up cycling and reusing what already exists. I love being able to give new life to old things and allowing them to live on just a little longer. I enjoy hunting down things that are unique and unusual AND I enjoy being able to peek into other people’s lives.
Enter the Marketplace.
It can be hit or miss but I have found some really good deals on interesting pieces. The area we are in is filled with antiques and you can find people selling them for a fraction of what the shops are asking.
Most of my finds have been artwork (remember my amazing monkey pictures from a few weeks ago?) but today we found this great chair. I was actually trying to purchase another chair from another seller but she was hard to pin down and it ended up sold to someone else before I could arrange a time to take a look. I was disappointed but in the Marketplace there is always something new just about to be posted. So I lost the original chair I wanted for my office but ended up with this slipper chair for the parlor (I think…..I like to try things out in MANY places before I actually commit and even then I am never truly sure.) It was newly reupholstered (which is good because used fabric can be a bit dodgy) and a fraction the store prices. And, most importantly, it fit in my car. So we now have a piece of furniture for our house! And an incentive to finish a room!!
(We did get a kitchen table a few months ago but that is a story for another time.)
So the lesson is you win some you lose some and in the end, with the exception of musical chairs, we all end up with a place to sit.
