The state of Georgia has decided to reopen.
We have decided to stay home.
Most of the local businesses, given the green light, have decided it is too soon and are erring on the side of caution, choosing to remain closed or continue with the strict precautions they have been operating under since the shelter in place order was given.
Restaurants, allowed to open their dining rooms, are opting to keep them closed and continue with pick up orders only.
Retail shops are continuing with online shopping and curbside pickup.
Not a single church in our area had in person services Sunday after the restrictions were relaxed, citing concern for their elderly parishioners.
Local leaders, both elected and self appointed, are setting the example by staying home and are encouraging the community to follow suit.
It is a complex issue that has stirred the passions of people on both sides.
We realize we are lucky to be able to make the choice that is right for us. Not everyone is able to make those decisions that may be best for them due to circumstances beyond their control.
We are staying home to protect those people as well as ourselves. To show respect to the healthcare workers by not adding an additional burden to an already overworked system.
We are staying home because we have everything we need right here.
We are staying home because we feel we are safer here.
We are staying home because there is a lizard on the inside of the back door giving us the eye.
Yes….we are staying home.
