Take a Day

I allowed myself to get dehydrated after donating blood Saturday, and have been feeling a bit “off” since.

In addition, a wicked change in humidity levels has my head pounding and threatening to go migraine, so today I “took a day.”

I had things that needed to be done, but it will all still be there tomorrow, and sometimes we need to listen to our bodies, our hearts, our minds, our souls and acknowledge when they are tired, or hurting and just need a day.

A day to wear glasses instead of contacts.

A day to sip mint tea.

A day to eat grilled cheese and tomato soup.

A day to take a nap even though you haven’t done much to warrant being tired.

Because sometimes just being alive in the world is tiring and exhausting.

Sometimes we just need to take a day to take care of ourselves, without guilt that we haven’t “earned” a rest or the luxury of a “do nothing day.”

Sometimes we need to take a step back and recognize that not all days need to be “productive” and give ourselves permission to do what is right for ourselves at the moment.

We may find, that on the days we “do” the least, we discover the most.
