Hello February!

February…..how did THAT happen?!?!

I only meant to step away from this blog for a week, maybe two, and before I knew it time was moving quicker than me, and just like that…January was gone.

To be honest, January was a rough month. The stress of the last year, ( world events, political strife, pandemic) which I thought I was navigating pretty well, came to a head and my anxiety went through the roof.

Anxiety is something I have dealt with off and on since my twenties, and although I know better, it always feels like failure when it becomes bigger than me and I have to seek out help.
The body can only exist in fight or flight mode for so long however, before something has to give, and anxiety is an expert at wearing down the defenses.

So….long story short, I had to learn my limits, ask for help and now (hopefully) I am back on track.

So…..what does that mean for this blog?

Well…. I will not be taking a month off but will probably not be checking in every day.

I have a couple of projects in the works that I will be sharing here probably on a weekly basis…. maybe more frequently depending on how things go.

One of them, which sounds incredibly dull I know, (but what better date to start official, official 2/1/21) is the declutter 2021 challenge. The goal, is simply enough, to remove 2,021 items from your life in the year 2021.

Sounds simple enough, but there are lessons to be learned by what we let go of, and what we chose to keep.

And those lessons fascinate me.

There is “wildlife” news I have to share and other noticings and adventures yet to be had.

So although I am a month behind, I hope you will join me here in 2021…..the best is (hopefully) yet to come 🙂

  1. YAY! you’re back. I can only imagine how difficult this past year and January has been for you and others who struggle with anxiety or depression. I am lucky that I don’t experience either of those and this past year and January have beaten me up a bit. So welcome back to the blog and to the track. 🙂 Your project sounds great. Lee and I did a big purge 5 years ago before we moved and we’ve done mini-ones periodically. Good luck with it!

    1. Thank you Sheryl! It is good to be back 🙂 Anxiety and Depression (I struggle with both) are hard to conquer and some days all I can aim for is staying afloat. There is a lot of guilt (for me) associated with both because my life is pretty good and I really have no reason to be anxious or depressed. Then I remember that is not how it works, try to cut myself some slack and breathe.
I am excited about the “big purge” and look forward to letting things go. I am hopeful this will be the year and am excited when I hear about others (like you) who were successful 🙂

  2. I love the idea of removing 2,021 items from your home! This has been a very tough year on everyone.
    Wishing you a peaceful year,

    1. Thank you! This HAS been a tough year for all of us. “Control what you can control” has kind of become my motto because there is just so much we can’t….. I thought removing 2021 things would be an impossible task…..but I think (embarrassingly) that I I have enough “filler” in my life that I will easily reach my goal….
