Mango Madness

I have a confession which will come as no surprise to some of you. I really, really, really do NOT enjoy going to the grocery store or cooking. I once (here comes another confession) bought the ingredients for a meal (pasta and sauce) at the gas station just to avoid the grocery store across the parking lot. I hate it that much. There is nothing about the process I find interesting or exciting. Luckily my husband is innovative in the kitchen and doesn’t mind preparing meals if I clean up the kitchen afterwards which I actually, strangely, do not mind. … Continue reading Mango Madness

The Eleventh Hour

I was perched in my writing spot at the kitchen island trying to think of something worth sharing today. Something interesting or inspiring that had happened. I was drawing a blank because some days are just not that memorable. I looked out the window and was met with the most beautiful glow from the church across the street. Someone had forgotten to turn out the lights, leaving the stained glass windows in the sanctuary glowing. Sometimes the Universe waits until the last possible moment, but I truly do believe there is something with noticing every single day. Continue reading The Eleventh Hour

Role Call

Last week we attended the Historic Brunswick Neighborhood Planning Assembly meeting. We were invited to join the group a few months ago while sipping margaritas outside of Tipsy McSways. I was lamenting (apparently loud enough to be overheard because….margarita) “Where can we find THESE?!?!” while pointing to a photo of floor to ceiling bookshelves on my phone. While my husband was unsure, a young man passing by our table asked what I was looking for and then promptly networked with a few friends to come up with the name and phone number of a carpenter who could possible help. That … Continue reading Role Call

Shots Fired

Things I Am Loving RIGHT Now I’ve decided to start a new feature on this blog called “Things I Am Loving RIGHT Now.” Friday seems like a good day to showcase these finds although who knows if that will stick. I have not been paid, compensated or asked to promote any of these things. My love can not be bought πŸ˜‰ Although it can be fickle which is why I am loving them RIGHT now. Tomorrow…..maybe not so much. These are things that have made my week more enjoyable and I want to share them with whoever is out there … Continue reading Shots Fired

Open Mic Night

Bardelous Social Lounge Brunswick, GA Last night we walked ( I LOVE that we can walk to places here) downtown to attend the Open Mic Night at Bardelous Social Lounge. Bardelous opened recently and is quickly becoming one of our favorite spots. I plan to do a more in depth review at a later date but in a nutshell it is a “social lounge” designed to encourage interaction between patrons. There are pool tables, dart boards and not a single television. Instead there are shelves of puzzles and board games guaranteed to bring out the child in everyone. We usually … Continue reading Open Mic Night

Sneak Peak

This week is shaping up to be a busy one but I wanted to check in and share this tiny peak of one of the many projects we have going on here at Narwhal Manor. (My husband is mortified that I have named the house but considering even the vacuum cleaner has a name it was just a matter of time….and his horror only makes me want to go bigger and more pretentious. Is that wrong??) We are far from done but progress is being made, the vision is becoming clearer and we are getting there. Stay tuned….. Continue reading Sneak Peak

Monkey See, Monkey Do The Opposite

I saw a pair of monkey pictures advertised for a steal ($15) on Facebook Marketplace right before Christmas. Although our β€œlibrary” is far from completed, I knew these pictures would be perfect for that room. I made contact with the seller and because I live about an hour away from her, she volunteered to bring them to me because she has family in my area and would be visiting them in the next week or two. Fast forward to this weekend. I decided to take the camera out on Saturday and head about an hour north to Midway, GA where … Continue reading Monkey See, Monkey Do The Opposite

Year of the Rat

According to my calendar, the Internet and Panda Express (who gave us this celebratory puzzle) today is Chinese New Year. And this is the year of the Rat. I was born in 1972. I was born in January. This makes me both a rat and a goat (Capricorn.) It also makes me jealous. I have always envied those born under the “cooler” signs. The dragons and tigers and horses. The bulls and lions and scorpions. The water, air and fire signs. My signs are bound to the Earth. They are realistic and practical and ambitious. They are industrious and thrifty … Continue reading Year of the Rat
